Festival Fashion: Trends, Inspiration, and Self-Expression
Music festivals are not just about the music; another huge aspect that made me fall in love with attending festivals is fashion. When I first attended festivals, I had no idea how you could express your personal style and creativity by immersing yourself in the world of festival fashion. You get to create memorable outfits and experiment with your style and looks. You can get your inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram, and Youtube. There are so many options out there; I have recently been purchasing from smaller brands and love how I get to rock-cool fits while supporting these smaller festival brands!
“WHAT DO I WEAR!?”
When it comes time to pick out your fit for your festival, I recommend taking into account comfort and the weather. Here are some things to consider:
- What will the weather be like? Is it going to be hot or cold or raining?
- Lightweight and breathable clothing: Try opting for materials that are not too heavy and breathable.
- Layering: Many festivals have unpredictable weather, so pick out your outfit with the option of outwear or layering that would be easy to tie around your waist or toss in your day bag!
- Footwear: I am a short girly and LOVE some platform shoes, but keep in mind that if the festival is all day/night, shoes can make or break your comfort!
HERE’S THE SECRET: DO YOU
The secret to looking and feeling your best at your next fest is to do you. Look at your outfit as wearing your personality. Mess around with different colors and patterns, or accessorize creatively! Here are some ideas:
- Tie-Dye: Embrace the colorful side with tie-dye shirts, dresses, skirts, or accessories like bandanas or headbands
- Floral prints: Maybe you are more of a bohemian vibe. Go for some flowy dresses or skirts, tops, and head accessories with floral patterns.
- Neon: A personal favorite, especially for group fits! Add some vibrant pop of neon colors or mess around with bright hair extensions.
- Geometric patterns: These can be especially fun to rock; incorporate geometric prints through patterns in pants, jackets, bodysuits, or earrings
- Animal print: Bring out your wild side with some animal print; there are so many options to pick from, and they can be easily found online and in stores
- Hats & headgear: Not only are they cute, but if you’re attending a hot day festival, they are practical too
- Accessories: I love somebody chains and harnesses, but you can add some statement jewelry, face paint, glitter, fun earrings
