CSR: For Our Planet. Thank you Coachella
CSR: Corporate Social Responsibility, being a responsible, good citizen. CSR is a business model, initiative, or strategy that companies create voluntarily to be socially responsible. Regarding festivals, these strategies allow them to hold themselves responsible for the community’s environment, economy, and social well-being.
Let’s look at one of the biggest music festival names and what they are doing, Coachella!
Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival are held at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, also known as the Coachella Valley. The festival holds 125,000 people for one weekend and is highly sought out by music lovers and festival goers worldwide.
I chose to spotlight Coachella for its CSR as they have a pledge, 2022 For Our Planet, which is well-detailed, has a direct positive impact, and spreads the urgency and importance of care and respect for the environment we use to attend our favorite festivals.
What is For Our Planet?

For Our Planet aims to unite the community and create a more sustainable Coachella, building off environmental initiatives and launching new ones to account for gas emissions, save water, and divert waste.
The company does a really good job at breaking down what they are doing and what they urge attendees to do to be as sustainable and it can be found on their sustainability page under “Our Part” and “Your Part”.

This is beneficial for those who want to learn more about the festival in the background and makes it easy for attendees to see what they can do to join in the efforts!
The festival also deserves a spotlight as it has sustainability partners with Global Inheritance and Galilee Center. Their partnership with Global inheritance has developed environmental and educational programs to bring attention to global issues and designs interactive programs that can be integrated. Galilee’s mission provides food, clothing, and basic needs to those underserved and disadvantaged.
