A Community & Culture of its Own
One of my favorite aspects of attending music festivals is the people. While there are many different types of music festivals you can find and attend, a special aspect of it all is how music has the power to attract people of all ages, all cultures, and all places of the world and bond them. Forget language barriers, and forget politics; festival culture holds its own culture and community. Let’s discuss how this community holds its own rules, norms, social responsibility, and love.
First, let’s talk about language barriers; worried that this barrier might affect your time at a festival? Let the music speak for you. Festivals have a way of allowing the expression of individuals and the community by sharing special moments and emotions.
Speaking of expressing individuals, dress to express!
Another special aspect of festival culture is sharing who you are through what you wear with those around you. Calling all festival fashion and fashion lovers! This is your time to shine! Wear whatever you want, express yourself through your hair, makeup, outfits, and colors, experiment however you’d like, and don’t worry about what others think because you are accepted and loved no matter how you look. Many times, if someone is vibing with your outfit, they’ll say something to you!
Respect yourself and respect those around you!
With music festivals, some decide to drink or partake in other activities, but make sure that you know your limits and know if you choose not to partake, that is okay! Everyone wants you to have a good time; with that being said, you want to make sure you can control yourself and still be respectful to those around you.
